What I was actually looking for
- What’s actually in the vial.
None of it is research grade. If you’ve been anywhere near this world, you know what that means, and if you haven’t… there’s a whole grey market out there selling vials labeled “not for human consumption” to people who fully intend to consume them. No prescription. No provider. No pharmacy. Also no real idea what’s inside. That was never on the table for me. - Lab work. Before, not after.
Required within a window before you start, and rechecked while you’re on it. That’s the nurse in me, and it isn’t negotiable. You don’t get to skip the part that tells you how your body is actually handling something. - One provider. The same one.
Not a new name in the chat every appointment, reading my history from scratch. Someone who knows what I’m already on, stays with me across every prescription, and answers when I message at 2am. Which is when I’m awake, so. - No monthly fee stacked on top of the medication.
I’m already paying for the medication. I’m not also paying a membership for the privilege of being a customer. - Room to grow.
I was heading into maintenance and into perimenopause at the same time, and I wanted more than one tool on the table before I needed it. Microdosing included, which isn’t where I’ve landed, but I wanted that door open.
How the medication is made and checked
Every prescription is compounded at a licensed 503A pharmacy for one named patient. Not mass produced, not pulled off a shelf. Made to order, from ingredients that come through FDA registered suppliers. It’s triple purified before it ever reaches a vial.
Then every batch gets tested four ways.
- Sterility.
Nothing is growing in it. - Endotoxins.
Killing bacteria isn’t the finish line. Dead bacteria leave debris behind, and that debris can still make you sick. This is the test that catches the leftovers. - Purity.
Nothing’s in there that isn’t supposed to be. - Potency.
The dose on the label is the dose in the vial.
Plenty of places will tell you they test. The part I actually cared about is that THE BATCH DOESN’T MOVE UNTIL THE RESULTS COME BACK. It sits at the pharmacy and waits. Nothing ships early. And it isn’t tested in house. It goes to an outside lab, which means the pharmacy isn’t grading its own work. If you want the numbers for your own batch, you can ask for them. Customer service pulls the results for what you were actually shipped.
The one I didn’t know to ask for
Every refill used to come from a different pharmacy. I assumed that’s just how telehealth worked. It isn’t.
You can be on the exact same milligram dose and end up pulling completely different VOLUMES into the syringe, because your medication came from a different pharmacy at a different concentration. Which is exactly why copying somebody’s dosing instructions off the internet is dangerous even when your prescriptions look identical on paper. I’d been saying that online for months before I understood a company could just… not do that.
CloveRX is a dedicated facility that serves EllieMD patients only, through one single 503A pharmacy. Not a rotation. Not whoever’s got stock this month. I didn’t know to ask for that. It’s the first thing I’d tell someone to ask about now.
How you actually get it
There are two gates, not one. The intake form has hard stops built in. Certain medical answers disqualify you automatically, before a human ever opens the file. Then a provider reads the whole thing themselves and makes sure nothing slipped past the automated pass. A person, checking the machine’s work. If they prescribe, the pharmacy fills it, and the medication plus every supply you need to use it ships to your door.
I’m nowhere in that chain. I don’t prescribe, I don’t dispense, I don’t see your file. I’m the person who told you the place exists.
My conflict of interest

Take the obvious objection seriously, because it’s a fair one. Somebody earning money on a referral isn’t neutral. Neither is a doctor with a pharma rep in the waiting room, or anyone in this space with a code in their bio.
And I can’t tell you I was recommending them before I got paid, because I wasn’t. I was under contract somewhere else, things weren’t sitting right, and I went looking. Ellie is what I found.
What I can tell you is what I do now. When someone brings me another company, and it checks several of the same boxes, I say so. Out loud. Then I tell them which boxes it misses and let them decide what they’re willing to trade, which is usually safety against price. That’s their call, not mine.
